Maggie's Day 74 of Discovering Love in Mint Julips

The sun shines bright on my old Kentucky home,” well not today. It rained as if no one had anything to do today and as if no one cared to do anything and there was certainly nothing farther from the truth than that.

Today was the 136 running of the Kentucky Derby. Unlike a hundred thousand folks in these here parts, I opted not to go to the track today because of the rain. Severe storms rolled in around 5:00 this morning and I don’t think it stopped raining until just before the call to the post for the fastest two minutes in sports.

I went to my friend Curt’s house for a
party. He had betting connections via the Internet with Churchill Downs and it was as good as gold for me.

I absolutely loved my day betting, talking, meeting new friends, catching up with old acquaintances eating great food and indulging in the finest beverages around, the one and only truly divine Mint Julep.

I love Mint Juleps!

The crushed ice in the sterling silver cup filled with bourbon and a sprig or two of mint makes for the most delicious day. And since I made my way through this absolutely delicious day imbibing in Mint Juleps I am placing my sterling silver cup to rest and saying – Sweet Dreams! Maggie ã
