I’m a sucker for Christmas, all twelve days of it. I slept and lounged and napped today and paid no never mind to the world and the obligations I had in it.
Today it was just me and the pretty princess chair and my friend Mark Fiorito’s novel, Kiss of the Marlin.
I ate breakfast and lunch in the pretty princess chair and read in between naps. It made for the most fabulous third day of Christmas.
However, I must admit that I was on a quest to discover three French hens today. Realizing we’re in a recession whether our government calls it as such or not I knew that finding three French hens today was going to be a task and a half times ten.
So, I improvised.
I spent the first hours of the afternoon going through my little black book. Actually, it was my little black phone, which has replaced the little black book.
I thought to myself, “Well, three French hens is a bit much on a day when I don’t want to leave my house so how about three French kisses from three fabulous men.”
After thumbing through my phone list I came across a man whose name brought a smile to my face and a lift to my heart. Ah, perfect, what a great way to start. A kiss from that man would set the day just right. Then I took a moment to think before dialing the phone. In the process I realized that a kiss would create far too much chaos so I moved on to the next name, then the next.
Then I came along a guy whom I knew would be a great kisser for this day with no strings attached. The only problem was he was way too far away for a kiss on this day.
After completing the list and coming up empty handed I opted for a single Parisian table and two matching chairs instead of three French Hens. I didn’t have to go any further than my own back yard. I love it when that happens.
Thank goodness for recessions, open minds, creative thoughts and sound decision making. It was a great day for discovering love in all those areas.
Thank goodness for the French and the threesomes they make that little Americans who purchase such fine things and ship them back to the States.
Sweet Dreams to you and all those with whom you celebrated this day, yesterday and all the days before that! Maggie ã
