Dinner was at Vincenzo’s this evening. My friend Jim picked me up before treating me to a beautiful night of absolute splendor.
I dressed in red suede and silk, adorned in pearls. Jim wore green and navy blue. Colors that always make his eyes dance. Collectively we in no way, shape or form resembled Christmas even though our color scheme reeked of holiday cheer. Maybe it was because we both chose to leave the tinsel at home.
I can claim though that Jim decorates my life with his love. He is the best friend any person could ever ask to share their life. I got lucky. He’s my neighbor.
Through a heated and passionate community dilemma Jim and I came to know each other years ago. Each of us recognizing the strengths the other possessed and the gifts simply couldn’t go unnoticed.
So, tonight, Jim chose to celebrate me. I was honored in ways that words simply cannot express. Jim knows a lot of absolutely fabulous people but on this night he chose to share his gifts with me.
The bourbon and water on the rocks that we each started the evening with went down smoothly. They were big. Our table was round. The atmosphere was warm, inviting, intimate, the conversation brilliant.
The illuminated map of Italy just beyond the back of my chair was a constant reminder of where we were: an Italian oasis.
Vincenzo stopped by the table to give Jim and I a gift. I gave him a hug and wondered why I had never managed to find a man as fabulous as him to share my life. I think I would have loved being married to that man. I know I loved being celebrated in his restaurant.
I was captivated the moment Jim and I entered the restaurant. We closed the place down.
My captivation stayed with me long after my front door clicked behind me and Jim was safe and warm back in his own home free from the freezing temperatures that warranted him to charm me with his bun warmers.
I have a hundred percent success rate in loving men whose cars have bun warmers. I thank Jim and Dan for such a great record. I bet Vincenzo has bun warmers in his car too. Maybe one day I can get them on my bicycle.
I loved this day and the beauty and the splendor that Jim brought to it. Sweet Dreams to you and all those whose love is shared with you! Maggie ã

Hey, Maggie. Thanks for going out with me on a special 'date' with you this past Thursday night. The dinner was delectable and your company incomparable! The warmth of your friendship on a very cold Jan. night added a special touch that made me feel such a VIP at one of Louisville's most famous restaurants. And as you warmed my heart I was so glad my car was able to successfuly warm your buns! Ha ha!
